Did you know??
The fifth-grade classes from Bethlehem Elementary School (BES) in Bethlehem , N.H., and its teachers received the 2008 Community Award from the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation. The Christmas SPIRIT Foundation created the Christmas SPIRIT Awards to recognize exceptional efforts to advance the spirit of Christmas for kids, families and the environment by a display of time, talents or financial support. Trees for Troops is CSF's premier program and over the past four years, with the help of FedEx, CSF has donated more than 50,000 Real Christmas Trees to military families. The Community Award is designated for a community group that has displayed a spirit of giving, as well as furthered the Christmas Spirit. The classes from BES have done that and more, by taking part in the program for the past three years. Not only have the fifth-grade teachers worked the volunteer hours into the student’s curriculum, but the students have spent time outside of the classroom collecting donations from local businesses and loading trees on to FedEx trucks for delivery.
